Paid Time Off
Schlenner Wenner & Co. offers a great PTO policy. Upon their first day, employees have a balance of 40 hours of PTO. Employees accrue PTO per hour worked. The accrual rate increases after 1 year, 5 years, and 10 years of service.
Available Flexible Time
The Firm is committed to accommodating the needs of our employees. In order to accomplish this, the Firm may create working arrangements whereby it can widen its recruitment pool and retain valuable skills of existing employees who want to work full-time but with alternative schedule, while enabling staff to retain career development opportunities. Flex-time is a work schedule which allows employees to work hours that are not within the standard 8:00 am to 5:00 pm range, while maintaining a high level of service to our clients.
Voluntary Time Off
Voluntary Time Off (VTO) allows full-time employees to decrease their time worked and pay without affecting their health benefits or career track. VTO can be taken as a block of time, as X number of hours/days within this time frame or as a reduction in hours to the current work schedule. Staff may choose to do this for one or all pay periods during this time frame. No minimums or maximum of voluntary time off have been set; you may choose the percentage/hours you would like to be decreased. Some great examples of those who have used the program were staff that wanted to travel to Europe for a summer or do the Becker Review’s CPA Review via the Fast Pass route.
Our Firm supports employees who wish to continue their education to secure increased responsibility and growth within their professional careers. In keeping with this philosophy, the Firm has established a program to help employees with passing the CPA exam.
The Firm will pay for Becker Review materials, Application Fees, and Exam Fees. The Firm also pays for your time off on exam day and mileage to and from the exam.
Once you have passed the CPA Exam, you will recieve a bonus up to $2,500.
From January 15th - April 15th, our Dress Code is Business Casual. From April 16th - January 14th, we have a Dress for the Day Policy. We recognize that there may be days where our employees do not have client or other professional commitments and therefore can enjoy dressing more casually while they work. Other days, employees have appointments with clients or have meetings to attend and so they want to look their best. We encourage our employees to Dress for the Day!
The busy season can be a stressful time here at the Firm so we try to make it as stress free as possible with fun events. Below are some of the activities we do:
Adviser Program
Schlenner Wenner & Co. offers an Adviser Program to all staff to help formalize the expectations that both the Adviser and Advisee have for one another. The program is an opportunity for staff to strengthen professional goals and to give each of our staff members the “inside scoop” on how to be successful at the Firm. We also implement this into staff reviews by allowing the Adviser to give specific feedback into the review process.
Education Assistance and Continuing Professional Education
At Schlenner Wenner & Co. we believe that you are responsible for your career, and that the Firm will help encourage staff members to have a focus or a “niche.” The firm will pay for certification related to the field of your interest. A few examples are Certified Valuation Analyst, Certified Fraud Examiner or Certified Specialist in Estate Planning.
The firm also tracks and pays all expenses pertaining to any Certified Professional Education (CPE) needed to maintain your CPA.
Volunteering
Schlenner Wenner & Co. truly believes we are only as successful as the communities we are in. All staff members are highly encouraged to be involved in at least one type of organization that they personally feel strengthens the community. Some of these groups include Forum of Executive Women, Young Professionals United, Sertoma, Junior Achievement, St Cloud Area Chamber and Rotary. Staff members are paid for their volunteer hours.
Incentives
If an employee is responsible for the Firm’s obtaining a new client, the employee will receive up to 10% of the first two year’s collections.
Referrals
If an employee refers a professional to the Firm and the referral is hired, the employee may receive between $1,000-$5,000.
Birthday Celebrations
Every month we take time to celebrate the birthdays within the month. It is an opportunity for our employees to connect and enjoy some delicious treats.
Santa Day
The first Saturday in December, we have a private party for our staff and families. Hot cocoa, decorating your own Christmas cookies, watching holiday movies, and making crafts are all part of the festivities. The REAL Santa Claus also shows up to hand out gifts to all the good girls and boys!
Our Firm newsletter, QuickLooks, is published every month. The newsletter includes a Partner note which provides an update on any open items within the Firm, a listing of upcoming events, employee accolades, a fun biography of a featured employee, and other items of interest and food for thought.
